Glass. Talking about glass in Venice is like talking about water, the lagoon and those elements that make up the very essence of the city, like its palaces, churches, canals and bridges. Anyone thinking about Venice cannot but also connect it to the transparency, fragility, light and colours of glass.
The Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti and the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia, two of the most important cultural institutions in Venice, are working together on a common project to promote glass art in the ancient tradition of Murano, and in the expressions of artists from around the world, who look to Murano trying out new forms and techniques. The project’s plans include there cognition of artists, study seminars, publications, exhibitions and the creation of this website, which is intended to bring together artists, collectors and scholars united by their love of glass in all its different forms.
